Family, Friends and Sweet Baby Brinley

Kurt and I were the only people in the room during the delivery, but our families came before she arrived and waited it out with us and then more came after to see her. My whole pregnancy I was worried about the fact that my parents live in Vegas and probably wouldn't be there when I went into labor. I was pretty upset at first, but had to face facts and deal with it, but Brinley was patient and waited for my parents to get to Salt Lake. I called my mom first thing in the morning, as soon as I knew they were keeping me I told them to jump on a plane and get here as fast as they can. I think my mom's bag was already packed. I was so happy to have them here since I wasn't expecting it. I wish I had taken more pictures, but here is what we have. A special thanks to Jennica for taking most of the pictures for us!!

Worth The Wait

Kurt and I had been talking about having a baby and the idea of parenthood for a few months. We would go back and forth being nervous for the unknown!! On Valentines day 2010 while out at dinner Kurt told me he was ready and wanted to start trying. Gulp... I was so nervous and excited so we officially started trying! I had already stopped taking birth control, but had missed my ovulation week so we practiced for a month :) Then in March I watched the calendar and tracked my cycle and BAM I was pregnant. I thought it would take months. The funniest part is that on April fools day I had my sister in law Lara (who was about 6 months pregnant) pee on a pregnancy test and I tricked Kurt. This was a little cruel I know I thought it would be funnier, but he was sad when I started laughing. Little did we know a baby was already growing in my belly. We found out at around 5 weeks and then waited till around 10 weeks to tell our family. We made Lily a t shirt that said BIG SISTER and let her loose around our family. With my parents in Las Vegas I flew down and surprised them with the news. Everyone was so excited and secretly hoped it was a girl. On Kurt's side of the family their were already 6 nephews and one more on the way. 7 little boys and no girls. Our cousin Kim who is an ultrasound tech did an early ultrasound around 16 weeks and shockingly we had a little girl growing!! I did not enjoy most of being pregnant. I felt like a whale most of the time and although I was not horrible sick I never felt great. Being able to feel her really made it all worth it. I loved that feeling and miss it so much. It really is amazing!! My official due date was December 22 and at my 38 week apt. I was dilated to a 3 and 70% thinned. It definitely made me nervous! Was I really ready?? Ready to not be pregnant, but was I ready to be a mom?? My Dr. made the mistake of telling me "Oh you definitely will not make it to your due date. I would guess it will be this week." So then everyday that week was the longest day ever!! Every pain and cramp I would stop... Is this it I would think?? So almost the entire week dragged by and then Wednesday night or I guess Thursday morning at 1:30 AM I lied in bed having contractions. I wasn't sure if it was it so I waited it out and about 3:00 AM I woke Kurt up told him I think this is it and headed for the bathroom to get ready. I straightened my hair and put on make up (I know I am nuts) if anyone knows me you probably already know I am funny when it comes to not having that stuff done. So once I was all done up we headed for the hospital. After a long morning waiting for them to decide if I was ready since I was still only dialated to a 3. My Dr. arrived and said Kurt and Jesse you are having a baby today. Little did we know we would have to wait all day :) There were a few unnecessary delays... The nurses couldn't get my IV in and ended up waiting from 8:30 AM till 10:30 AM to get that in and the pitocin going. My Dr. wanted to break my water at 8:30 AM but had to wait for the IV to be done and they didn't end up breaking my water until around 4:30 PM not sure what was going on with that?? So it was a slow day with not much progression. So then around 8:00 PM I was feeling the pressure and knew I was getting close. I told the nurse and she checked me and I was dialated to a 10 and fully thinned. We did one test push and she immediately stopped me and said yes you are ready and basically keep your legs closed!! Ahhh.... the baby was on her way out! The nurse told us we just had to wait for my Dr. and we ended up waiting more then an hour!! They had to give me a separate shot of pain medication to stop my labor!! I was so mad, but it was worth the wait. At 9:40 PM and after maybe 5 minutes of pushing BRINLEY ANN PHISTER arrived! What an amazing miracle. I loved her instantly! What a feeling it is how much you love and care for this little person you just met and seeing the way Kurt looked at her for the first time made me cry. I will never forget looking at him as he watched the nurses clean her up. Now we are just the happiest little family and she is an amazingly great baby and I love her more then anything!!

Brinley was born on December 16 at 9:40 PM She was 7lbs. 12oz. and 19 1/2 in. long.
